Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa Wins 2025 Peabody and Sports Emmy Awards

Netflix’s documentary Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa, produced and edited in partnership with MakeMake creatives, has won several awards: a Peabody in the Documentary category, as well as a Sports Emmy in the Outstanding Long Documentary category.

The inspiring film follows Lhakpa Sherpa’s journey as she risks everything for the sake of her daughters on a record-breaking Mount Everest climb. Despite her circumstances and challenges, this remarkable woman has relentlessly persisted in her goals — in 2000, she became the first Nepali woman to summit and survive Mount Everest, and today she holds the record for most Everest summits by a woman at 10 climbs.
