MakeMake is the product of unbound creativity supported by opportunity. Today it is a collective of best-in-craft talent spanning across multiple companies, but it began in 1992 as Rock Paper Scissors, a creative editorial house opened by Angus Wall. At the time, Wall was an up and coming music video and commercial editor, and by his own admission, he did not plan on creating a multifaceted production and post production company. However, shortly after opening, Linda Carlson walked through the door and into Angus’ life. Thereafter, a unique world manifested; one that was devoid of creative limitations, where all artists were invited to unlock what was previously thought to be impossible with a simple edict from Carlson, “everyone go MakeMake!”
29 years later we honor that opportunity everyday. By combining state-of-the-art technology with artistic ingenuity, MakeMake exists to collectively create and redefine narratives across all mediums. From Rock Paper Scissors and Elastic to Jax, a52, Primary, and Indestructible, the family of brands under the fold at MakeMake represent the totality of the studio's creative endeavors and the power of its capabilities.
Since the early nineties, Rock Paper Scissors has been a premier editorial house, creating award-winning work for film and television.
Wall and Carlson went against industry norms in 1997 by creating a52 and adding visual effects to their repertoire.
Elastic was created in 2007 as a full-service design company that builds on the strengths of the existing divisions and allows for greater creative exploration for both the artists who work here and the clients who work with us.
We continued to lead industry innovation with the launch of JAX in 2015, creating groundbreaking marketing campaigns for film and television properties.
2019 saw the launch of Indestructible to support and create all things musical, including licensing, mixing, composition, and sound engineering.
Every expansion over the years has been motivated by our desire to provide world-class talent with the freedom to be agents of change within their field. This boundless creative landscape has facilitated cutting-edge artistry and kept us pushing into every corner of the production world. Launching MakeMake Entertainment in 2019 was a result of the creative inertia spawning from our family of companies. Just as we seek to provide talent with space for discovery, we have applied a similar model to storytelling, and the content we produce is informed by our quest to uncover the truths that knowingly or unknowingly, affect us all.
